In this category, you will discover Cattleya Primary Orchid Species that occur naturally in the wild and have not been developed through human breeding. These distinct orchids are native plants and are not hybrids, which are the result of breeding different orchid species or hybrids.

Hybrids are mostly man-made and offer several benefits, including greater fertility, faster propagation, and easier care. They can tolerate inconsistent living conditions and poor environments because they have multiple “parents” with various built-in tolerances. In contrast, species orchids are better equipped to survive neglect and harsh environments as they are accustomed to strange habitats and have not been crossbred.

The table below shows the correlation between size and time to first blooming. Seedlings are orchids in their vegetative phase that take between 18 months to 4 years to reach maturity and bloom:

NBS or BS are plants about 7" to 10" length and about 18 months to 2 years to blooms

T4" - T7" are plants about 4" to 7" length and about 1 to 2 years to blooming size, could be more or less.
T3" - are plants about 3" length and about 2 to 3 years to blooming size, could be more or less.
T2" - are plants about 2" length and about 3 to 4 years to blooming size, could be more or less.

Disclaimer: If you see an orchid about 2" or 3" length but it is described as a Near Blooming Size or Blooming size orchids, please understand that the growing patterns and the development of each orchid varies based on their genetics, therefore the size of the orchids is independent of its maturity, there are orchids miniature or compact in size that seems seedlings but are mature enough to bloom.
