Cattleya purpurata v. russeliana is very rare to find in the usa!

Is native to Brazil. One of the most iconic species in the genera. Cattleya purpurata is one of the ancestors for a large majority of the hybrids we see in cultivation today.

An easy growing, easy blooming species. The flowers are highly fragrant and rally large - 6" across.

The var. russeliana is a beautiful variation with very subtle blue-pink lines on the lip.

In the summer months it can also be cultivated outdoors in a light shade, there should be a difference of 5 degrees between day and night temperature.

Light to sunny in winter, slightly shaded in summer. Water well or dip every 10 - 14 days, Temperature: 14-22°C; from May-Sept. Fertilize with every 2 waterings.

This is a Near Bloowing Size in a 4" clay pot, newly repotted, may be sent bare root.
