Introducing the Exquisite Cattleya labiata var. coerulea 'September Mist' AM/AOS x Cattleya labiata var. rubra 'Schuller' Hybrid!

Experience the beauty of nature's artistry with our exclusive Cattleya labiata var. coerulea 'September Mist' AM/AOS x Cattleya labiata var. rubra 'Schuller' Hybrid. This carefully selected seedling from a Stewart cross (Perola Rubra x Mrs. Ashworth) has been lovingly named 'September Mist' for its enchanting blush coloring that sets it apart.

The 'Schuller' variant of the Cattleya labiata var. rubra adds a touch of intrigue to this already wonderful hybrid. Known for its captivating dark hues, the 'Schuller' Cattleya emits a spicy fragrance that will leave you pleasantly surprised.

Cattleya labiata is a prized fall-blooming species hailing from Brazil, and it played a significant role in the cut flower era in the United States. With its large, well-shaped blossoms adorning medium-sized foliage, labiata earned its place among the "Big Three" commercial growers cherished for almost year-round production, alongside trianaei and mossiae.

Cultivating this hybrid is a joy as Cattleya labiata is renowned for its vigor and ease of growth. Its growth cycle typically commences in February in the United States and completes by June. In favorable conditions, a second growth phase may occur, maturing in late July or early August, ultimately resulting in simultaneous flowering of both growths.

You can expect a delightful flowering display from September to November, depending on the clone. After the flowering period, it's crucial to allow the plant to rest, administering water sparingly. Excessive watering during this phase could lead to root rot and hinder growth in the following spring.

To optimize its potential, provide your Cattleya labiata hybrid with plenty of sunlight and fresh air. Light green leaves are a positive indicator that you will be rewarded with a spectacular five-flowered bloom spike. Repotting is best done in spring, once the front pseudobulb shows signs of new root growth.

This is a blooming size in a 4" clay pot, about 1 to 2 years to bloom.   Limited! Grown from Seed!

This extraordinary hybrid is a rare gem, blending the beauty of coerulea with the allure of rubra. Indeed, a captivating combination that is rarely found. Don't miss your chance to add this exceptional orchid to your collection and witness the breathtaking union of 'September Mist' and 'Schuller' in full bloom!
