Cultivation Tips:
- Light: Provide very bright light, as C. trianae thrives under intense illumination. Leaves should be a light green color; if they become warm to the touch, reduce light to prevent leaf burn.
- Medium: This orchid grows well in medium fir bark but can also be mounted. Ensure good air circulation around the roots.
- Watering: Water approximately once a week, reducing frequency during winter. Avoid drying the plant completely after the first growth phase to encourage a second growth cycle.
- Temperature: Cattleya trianae prefers intermediate to warm conditions, making it suitable for a variety of environments.
- Rest Period: During its autumn rest period, keep the plant slightly dry to avoid root rot. Resume watering with frequent light sprays on sunny days right after flowering.
- Repotting: Repot only when new roots emerge from the lead pseudobulb, as frequent repotting can hinder flowering.
- Bloom Cycle: New growth begins in early spring after flowering, continuing through August. Sheaths form as growth matures, with flower buds developing in November. Expect blooms from late December through February.
