Renanthera monachica
Renanthera monachica
To cultivate Renanthera monachica successfully, it requires a light level of 40000-50000 lux. It should be placed in a very clear position that provides enough light without scalding the leaves. However, the plant should not be exposed to the direct effect of the midday sun. To thrive, it also needs strong air movement at all times.
This orchid species prefers warm temperatures. During the summer, the average day temperature should be between 29-31°C, with a night temperature of 22°C, resulting in a daily difference of 7-9°C. In the spring, the average day temperature should be 31-32°C, with a night temperature of 20-22°C and a daily amplitude of 10-11°C. In the winter, the average day temperature should be 28-29°C, with a night temperature of around 19°C, resulting in a daily difference of 9-11°C.
Renanthera monachica requires high humidity levels to thrive. During the summer and autumn, it needs a humidity level of 80-85%, which falls to around 70% in the three months at the end of the dry season in late winter and early spring. To maintain the appropriate humidity levels, regular misting or a humidifier can be used.
This is a blooming size in a 3” basket, about 1 to 2 years to bloom, mericlone, limited!
To cultivate Renanthera monachica successfully, make sure to provide adequate light, air movement, and temperature regulation while maintaining high humidity levels. This will ensure that the orchid thrives and produces its beautiful flowers for years to come.
